Handy material library (similar to and including MatCap's)

A way to have a library and save materials to it within Blender would make the workflow much faster. In a similar manner to how substance painter handles it. Would also encourage easier sharing and downloading materials online.

If it could work in a similar way to Solid shading's MatCap. (perhaps even include Those matcaps, and a way to add new ones) that would be amazing

The asset manager will be able to do this, but right now the thumbnails aren't great and some of the libraries don't refresh correclty, but it's usable.

It cant do it unfortunately because they didnt implement CURRENT BLENDER FILE ASSETS option to asset browser so it doesnt allow u to see them without marking as asset one by one, so its unfortunte really, small addition of feature is missing

vangel

You could enable the Blenderkit addon and also uploading your own materials

Yes but Thats not the best solution, all softwares have material library, everyone knows the workarounds but it should be built in I think

I also thought of this , at least a new panel on materials tab, that shows all the materials as thumbails and u can assign them to material, this material library can also be shown on asset browser as current file materials
