Joystick or Arduino compatible device input as NDOF viewport control

(Pleeeease) Hi! It would be cool if modellers could use a regular joystic as input device. Once is more ergonomic eficient sculpt with a tablet I was searching for a budget solution for function keys and viewport controls and the most exciting one is use a custom arduino device emulating a joystic and macro keys.

Some plug-ins scripters who are working with this solution is currently on early stage of their projects.... I think it would be a welcome addition. Thanks!

If there's already someone making a script for that, why not reach them out ? That would be definitely an addon's job anyway, too niche to justify a development into Blender itself IMHO.

* @-L0Lock- * In some way I agree, but I had to throw up this idea for someone adapt. I read that BGE have this option as input device, I wondered that could be a easy job for a insider developer.

* @romanear * The BGE was removed a while ago, Blender is not the same software since then, and even back then the BGE was unmaintained for a decade already. So I don't see anything easy for an BF dev, it would require a new code from scratch, and they have already enough to care about. Which is not the same situation addons devs are in.

seems pretty niche to me- but have an upvote anyway because it sounds cool

I don't think it is niche. I think it would give another control option to people with trackpads that can hook up a game pad easy enough. It gives less expensive options than space mice 6 dof controllers.
