Edit posts with Markdown instead of HTML
I was replying to a post and, while asterisks/italics weren't working in the reply, I submitted the reply after I was reasonably satisfied with the result.
I loaded the page in another browser where I wasn't logged in to make sure it can be viewed the same for anyone else but the video/image link I saw after posting wasn't visible (I assumed only logged users can see images) so I edited my post to include a text link to the video as well.
The edit field displays HTML instead of markdown and after submitting with html, some values are either overwritten or removed, for example I couldn't get an image or text with link to submit. I copied my stored markdown cache to see if that would work and it did, so I don't know what the html text is for if it's just going to ignore what I enter.

Just had a look and the new Dillo backend that Blender.Community uses lets you do your edits in Markdown. The <kbd> tag doesn't seem to be parsed correctly now, but I think this is a step in the right direction.
@Jason van Gumster: Is there any equivalent to
<kbd>in markdown ?@Caetano Veyssières: Not as far as I know. Typically it just parses the HTML. But if you're coding for security, you don't really want to allow all HTML tags to be available. It's a tricky topic.

How ? I'd like to be able to do that too.
Just select all your text and copy+paste it to an empty text document.
doesn't keep any markdown notation in my case.
Oh sorry, I misunderstood you at the first place. I thought you found a way to take back the markdown text after having confirmed your post.
Known issue. The edit field does display HTML instead of Markdown, but it accepts (and prefers) Markdown syntax when you edit. It's something to be fixed. However, in the meantime, just stick with using Markdown syntax and remove the HTML.
