"View Selected" *when* nothing is Selected / enhanced functionality for numpad "."
When nothing is Selected, "View Selected" (numpad ".") does nothing.
This seems like a waste of a good key. I propose that when nothing is selected that:
-
in Edit mode, the view changes to include all the elements of the current item, e.g. if an Armature is the current item, but no individual bones are selected, the entire Armature is framed;
-
in Object mode, the view changes to include all elements (essentially duplicating FRAME ALL, but consolidating it to one key).

It would be nice if this option would frame more accurately than Home, as well, because right now, Home often zooms out too far from the scene to be useful.
But you (me from my experience 100%) still need Frame All in cases when something are selected... So you like optimize Frame Selected key a bit, but now you still need Frame All key when it do less sense.
I think I guess why you asking for that. Because move hand from WSAD zone to numpad to press " . " to frame selected and move to " home " to frame all is damn uncomfortable moves... But someone, who made this defaults, find it "well designed".
What I can say (again, from my experience) - remap it to WSAD zone something. In my case frame selected
Shift+Z, frame allShift+Q. I can access both actions blindly/fast as possible and feel " 0 " issue with Frame Selected...Actually I remaped most of important actions from numpad zone to WSAD zone.
* @IIIFGIII * I don't mind the numpad, but I really hate that I can hit that key and NOTHING happens.
