Blender .gif and .webp support

This would be extremely helpfull for reference images, many of which are sold/given in the gif or webp formats.

Normally to use these images you have to use an external app or website to convert them to jpg or png, but it would be awesome if we could simply drag n' drop these file formats strait into blender.

This would be a massive quality of life feature imo. Importing gif as planes in alot fewer steps. Would be great to just click "import images as planes" , and then be able to selected gif as a type, have it play, and be able to change some play back options.

You could probably do some interesting things in the 2d animation workspace. Or just with merging 2d and 3d elements. Also would be great to just be able to export as gif format too.

It appears as of today in Blender 3.2 webp as images are now supported. No animation yet but static image webp is definitely a step closer!

WebP definitely, but I don't know about gif. WebM is superior to gif so why would you use gif? Maybe because some websites only accepts gif but not webm?
