Allow Multiple Textures for Grease Pencil Brushes
The new additions to materials coming in 5.2 are very promising:
New placement settings for line materials using Dots and Squares were added … There are three placement modes: Count, Density, and Radius.
Added randomization settings to the new placement options above. These allow the randomization of size, opacity, and color of the rendered dots/squares.
These features are helping to make Blender's brush engine more robust, particularly when it comes to texture brushes. However, I think there are two big features missing compared to other drawing/animation programs.
One of them I cover here . The other is the restriction of a single texture when using texture brushes.
As you can see in a program like TVPaint, as I change the tilt of my stylus (notated by the moving bar at the bottom), the texture changes.
This makes brush strokes look more dynamic and less repetitive. Having a feature in Blender where you could attach multiple textures to your material, and have them swap out based off stylus tilt (or even just randomly) would be a huge benefit.
