Loosing the Text Editor Focus
A key feature of Blender is to send any keyboard entry to the active space, this is major powerfull, I think. BUT: If you are typing a longer way into the text editor, eg. coding, I will AWARE moving the mouse out of the text editor space while typing and doing my research and switching windows (eg. Firefox and so on). IF it happens anyway it could be disastrous because you will blow all your busy keystrokes into a random space and so you are able to completely ruin your blender-file. My suggestion: Simply hide the (red) text cursor, when the mouse runs out of the Text Editor so we can easily see if the keystrokes will or won't reach the Text Editor! PLEASE !!! ;-)

Same for interactive console
Yes to all! But I whanted to avoid to much options. So my proposal is only to show or hide the red text cursor giving a small visual feedback if and where the text editor will receive keystrokes. This would keep any flexibility for "mouse acrobats" but avoid mismatch whily typing.
Maybe it don't need to be locked in any way. I would be glad to simply see, if my typing will run into the text editor. How do you think?
I agree. Any type of text input field should hold the keyboard input focus regardless of mouse cursor location until the user clicks out of the input.
If I click into the Python Console I shouldn't have to keep my cursor over the console to keep typing. Same goes for the Text Editor.
The Properties editor already functions like this* so Blender isn't even consistent with itself.
*for example, if you're renaming an object or changing one of its transforms it holds the input and you can move the mouse cursor anywhere.
* @Chris Kohl * ok, but, like you sometimes need to do operations in Blender's UI to get their bpy API call method so many people have the text editor, console and viewport open at the same time, they do something in the editor ( which requires focus ) look at ths console, copy>paste that into the text editor, rinse and repeat
* @Chris Kohl * Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes! The need to keep the mouse in a window when editing is driving me absolutely potty. And it's dangerous... had a couple of mishaps with pressing the backspace button, having inadvertently nudged the mouse into a different window.
Maybe 'lock certain window" button should be added? Like locking node in substance designer..
