Overlapping edges viewport overlay

Blender should have a viewport overlay in which overlapping (double edges) are displayed more bold to visually distinguish them, which allows for better mesh inspection. This is useful to identify overlapping open (naked) edges, which can be created with edge splits or ripping edges/ vertices, for instance. It should be similar to this: youtu.be/e4gjmFHs8m0

There were apparently a couple of others suggesting this: blender.community/c/rightclickselect/99dbbc/ blender.community/c/rightclickselect/nHfbbc/

In one of the comments, this addon was suggested: blenderartists.org/t/mesh-check/639166/53 (Mesh Check BGL edition)

That will be cool but there is also auto merge command and i think it does a good job to avoid this kind of unexpected overlapping situations.
