3D brush projection over 3D objects

Hello Blender community,

The lack of this feature is driving me up the wall. When you paint on an object in the 3D viewport the paint gets cut off at the object’s edge. I know there is a prototype of this already in development, but I don’t know if it will get into the final product and that kind of scares me because this has been a major roadblock for my creative process as of late. I think that this feature would be extremely useful, especially with addons like ucupaint to go with it. It is very frustrating not being able to paint objects properly and it would mean so much to me if this was addressed.

Sincerely,

Titanic Tigrex

Unfortunately, you can only paint in the 2d editor for now if you must completely stroke around a corner. Even if a paint stroke is able to follow the surface normal, it doesn't makes sense to try to paint where you cannot see around an angle. If you want to paint through, turn off 'Occlude' and 'Backface Culling' to see the stroke go right through the object. There is no perfect way yet to paint around the angles. I do hope we get something like a curve stroke with geometry that can stick to the surface and act as if it is raycasting to the texture on face normal.
