Transformation limits
Hey guys!
Another minor offer for Blender. This time about transfomations.
Well I found, that limit constraints do not work in the way I expected. It seems it works only on visual level, not on the transformation level. And it provides some issues.
Here's two examples.
First one is about IK stretch. I want to make smooth transformation from stretch IK to non-stretch IK. First I tried to use IK spline to simple IK, but it provides constant switch - True or False, because working with influences is not so good and there's problems with pole vector, so this way of working is pretty unpredictable. And the main goal is to make smooth motion. So I created IK sys with stretch and I use constraint to drive bones. I did that, because stretch IK scales at all axes, while I need scale applied only on length of the bone. And it works fine, when I use scale constraint and bones are stretched or even flexed. BUT! When I do not need stretch and turn off scale constraint, and then I flex the bones - there's a big divergency in bones behaviour. It's really annoying, and it seems to be a trouble in future. The picture is below. It seems, that stretch option works in both ways - positive scale and provides a minor scale in negative direction, and that produces that divergency.
Second one. I use bone to drive some attrs on bendy bones so with scale of the bone I drive bendy bone easy in. It's pretty fun, because it works like bezier now)) Anyway, I don't want to scale my bone below 0.5 for example, because it's make possible for animator to loose this bone at some point if animator scales down it too much. And it works only at visual level. If we look at scale transform - scaling continues even after reaching min level of scale constraint. And if it goes to zero - the bone flips. It's also unwanted behaviour.
So my proporsal is to make limits on transform level, so there will not be able to go out of that limits "phisically". And I supose it will resolve problems I discribed.

Why not just use the For Transform checkbox in the Limit Location constraint?
@Jason van Gumster: it works for the second example... but... not the proper way so far.. yeah, it seems to be fine, but again -- it flips at zero... So it doesn't solve the problem.
And it doesn't solve the first example as well, where problem is lil bit deeper.
