Timelapse function
While you can create a timelapse with a screen recorder, most people tend to do things that require it parts to be edited out such as opening browser tabs for reference images, checking email, etc.
Clip studio paint recently added a similar native feature to great applause, and I think it would be a useful tool to show off the creation process of a certain model.

On one hand I get the interest of such feature, on the other hand there are so many other things way more important that Blender crucially needs and so many alternatives to do timelapses that I can't endorse such feature proposal as of today.
Cafe Recorder is like 10$ for a one-time payment.
I feel like this feature isn't going to be implemented anytime soon so use that in the meantime.
This would be super useful to save storage space, since just doing a normal screen recording and speeding it up later could create an absolutely massive video file, most of which will never actually be needed.
I sometimes make time-lapses, so to avoid this, I just use OBS, but set the frame rate to something like 1fps, which I can then speed up later. I used it for this timelapse: youtube.com/watch and in total, the filesize for ~ 60 hours of video came to about 4GB which is pretty incredible.
Sorry but that's a user issue, not a software issue. Learn to setup your video encoding correctly so the output is as you need it to be, it's that simple.
