Visible center of the node editor grid.

For example, when working with multiple materials, some of the nodes can be way off center and when you switching between, you need to move back and forward.

With visible center, you can always try to not to move nodes away from center for more seamless experience Clipboard Image.png Clipboard Image (1).png

I would rather the entire editor layout have more intelligence about how it frames content when changing from one thing to another. I've never understood why when changing to another material (or geonodes, etc), I see a completely BLANK window and have to FRAME ALL.

Then go back to the other material, and FRAME ALL again. And again. And again.

(And on that note, "frame all" should not leave such extreme margins around the nodes.)

Sounds like another different feature proposal. maybe a pin, but for node editor view position per nodetree

I think "origin" would be a more obvious term, as it's already used in the viewport, and it can't be confused with the center of the area.

In addition to this, maybe it would be useful to have:

  • an operator to center the view on the "editor origin" regardless of nodes
  • an operator to snap a selection of nodes to the "editor origin" from the nodes' center of mass (aka, keep the nodes' original relative positions, but move them as a whole to the editor origin)

I like the lined center better, the cross one doesn't work for me. maybe if we could have it optional what version of the center you want I think they have something like that in the compositing view.

i also prefer infinite lines, because you can not accedently hide it under node, like you can do with a single cross. and with infinite lines you can visualy navigate towards center form distant view position also you can building streight node tree along line.
