Grease Pencil Stroke Asset Browser Support

I was following a feature on the old developer site that was looking really promising: Grease Pencil stroke support for the Asset Browser. From what I saw, it seemed to be pretty far along in development, even reaching the review stage. But since moving to the new developer.blender.org site, I haven’t really seen any mention of it.

Here’s the link to the original archived post: archive.blender.org/developer/D15271

I also wanted to acknowledge that this subject was brought up here: blender.community/c/rightclickselect/rm34 . However, that post is now 3 years old and is still flagged as “In development” despite it appearing to be abandoned.

I still think this would be a really valuable addition for Grease Pencil users, and I believe many people would benefit from it. I’m creating a new thread to gauge interest and see what the community thinks.

Yeah i remember this. it would be SUCH a time speed up for 2d character rigging. Especially for me, if the texture coordinates issue was fixed. That way the gp could be a container shape for painted textures. Getting all the benefits of both.

We could just premake parts for characters. Also i would LOVE it if the weight painting on the objects could be saved too , and we could save the Rig and the Gp together, and just drag out the premade parts with their pre rigged bones.

Would be amazing for 2d game development
