Set import method preference on asset

blender_ioPDrONupo.png For characters, you very rarely (if ever) want to append it. You wanna link it to make changes.

That is something you have to be mindful of when importing them.

If you could set a default or prefereed import method on a character (or any asset) that would save a little bit of time and possible mishaps

You can set the Asset Browser's default import method from the Preferences:

Not really a solution since the problem is the unintentional use of the wrong import method when the user who is importing assets is not paying enough attention (aka myself). I propose a different but simpler solution to this problem here :

blender.community/c/rightclickselect/EP0K

This way, less mishaps and no need to set an import method on each asset.

A per-asset default import method would be a huge time saver and QOL improvement, especially if it works recursively. (assets which use other assets)

I find myself in this situation 10s or even 100s of times a day - I want to append a mesh (decal) and edit it but I need its material to remain linked. Currently the only solution I have is to periodically run a script to re-link all materials in my scene.

This is how I envision this working: imgur.com/a/sMlp6U8
