Geometry Nodes: Point Relax node

It would be great to have a node that looks for points that are overlapping (based on a given input radius ) and attempts to reduce that overlap to avoid points that are too close to each other. This process would then be repeated until no overlapping points are left or until an input max interations is reached.

This is useful for differential mesh/line growth: youtube.com/watch

We could also have another input geometry that could confine the points to that surface's normals when relaxing, as seen here, for example: youtube.com/watch

For reference please see the Houdini version: sidefx.com/docs/houdini/nodes/sop/relax .

Hi, thanks for the suggestion, but instead of linking to Houdini documentation, could you describe the idea in the post more specifically? It's great to have ideas like this here, but I think it's important that an idea for Blender is not just "make it like this other software." Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback! I have updated the idea to be more specific and also linked the Houdini source and gave another example.

Thanks! It's a nice simple concept, it would be really nice to have something like that when we start working on generic simulations.

That's definitely one of the most important nodes to have.
