Weird place for those additions.

Markdown guide should be near input text field.

Not weird place, in my opinion.

  1. Those things on bottom, most of time, somewhere under ton of comments, if you hadn't noticed yet. This "footer" work good only on main page or short/new topic.
  2. This "footer", probably, worst place (IMO) for such things ever. It has to be on much prominent place. Why should such important things be shoved somewhere in the "ass of website", where no one will look for them, instead of being on the spot? Thin font small gray text words without any intuitive icons on gray background in most bottom part of website.... I can't get the point of such "design".
  3. Especially for you I wrote - How To's SUMMARY . Place where users can find everything they need (not only markdowns). Lot of issues exist just because users didn't have some handy HOW TOS on good spot right on front of their face. How to use search to not store dozens of duplicates. How to name topic to make it easier to find via search later. Why writing essays in topic title is bad idea. Why putting 10 proposals inside single topic (proposals to make "everything" better) is bad idea. etc. etc. etc. How to made well-named, well-articulated with pictures if needed topic (with examples).

What I proposed is to place such important things right in user menu, wehere users will often see them (eg. when going to check profile or logout). At least personally me, as user, expect to see them in this menu. Not somewhere in the ass as gray tiny text on gray background.
