File requester update
A file requester is one of the simplest portions of any application and Blender’s file requester needs some work. For one the filter actually needs to be a file search much like in any Windows file explorer window or any other Windows app. Also the file requester needs to remember where it last was no matter what the circumstances. And while we are at make the native OS file requester optional. These changes would really help noobs who are coming to Blender from other 3D apps such as myself.

What exactly are you lacking?
I'd say this is really more of a personal preference and absolutely depends on the context. You are not looking for the same thing every single time you are trying to fetch a file. Ideally, each button that opens the file browser should have the possibility to open a pre-determined folder where the files it is meant to fetch are most likely to be.
