Universal Nodes
(this may exist dunno cannot find it on google. I suck at proper terminology)
Universal nodes as in a node that if changed in one group will be changed in another.
I..E norms. I want the strength to change across several norms at one time. This makes it though where I have to go through multiple materials and change them one at a time.
I was thinking we could make something like this.
Create Value, it by default has the typical stuff. However, it has a checkbox to change it to multi-use, universal, whatever you wish to name it. With this, you make a group name for it. Then the next time you make a value you check multi and then you can click the list of groups it is part of or make a new group.
I know many will say there is a way to combine everything into one material etc to make it work yes you are right to a degree but what if we add in a divide node or whatever else this way we can keep the levels equal across the board say an item has a .5 rough, another has a .2, and so on using divide, add, etc (math nodes) we can set up a multi-value that when changed would change all roughness while retaining the same level.
Quite powerful if I do say so myself.

You can do this very easily with node groups. Then when you update the node group, it will change everywhere it's used.
* @jmrmorgado * So if I want a value to change everywhere I need to put it in a node group? Which means I have to group it, copy and paste it everywhere I go, then look in it for one thing a value then use that to change it.
Didn't know that route existed and it sounds wholly unnecessary but okay.
My method would at least allow it to be under a fold-down menu like when you add a color ramp you can fold down a menu and change it without going into the shader node. Can this do that?
* @crop.circles.studio * You can add custom properties to the world node then copy those as drivers and paste the driver anywhere else in Blender. Now you just change that 1 value in the world tab and it applies to all fields that are driven by that world field.
* @crop.circles.studio * When you create a group, that group becomes available in the add menu (shift+A) under the "group" section. So you don't have to copy/paste. Not saying it's ideal, but it's not as cumbersome as it looks.
