Disabling the Limit Selection To View outside of X-Ray Mode
Dear Blender Devs,
I have recently picked up Blender and I think that it is an amazing piece of software, thank you for the effort you put in constantly developing it!
My post here is to make a request about a feature that I heard it was available in 2.79 but then went into the void in 2.8 :). It is the limit selection to view. As far as I can see it is coupled now with the x-ray mode. I would like to ask if this can be decoupled or at least a switch can be left for us to turn it on/off in code.
Coming from 3dsMax / Maya, I really want to not see any information, sometimes, about the back of the surface when I do modeling, unless I look at a reference through it, where x-ray comes in. It is quite easy to forget to press Alt-Z when modelling, and this leads to mistakes that are then quite hard to fix when discovered.
I know that x-ray alpha 1 will turn off the transparency, which is great, but it still leaves behind the backface vertices. Another good solution would also probably be the ability to disable backface verts in xray mode.
I do not think that coming from another software is a good enough reason to make Blender be like that, it is awesome as it is, but as pretty much all the industry software present that feature, a lot of the user-base is probably expecting by default that setting to be available.
Thank you and keep up the amazing work!

Cirno's latest Box Select addon has options for select through without showing x-ray or backface components.

Only works for drag selections, though, not individual clicks.
