The drop-down menus at this site should work independently

This website has three drop-down lists:

  1. Tag type (UI, modeling, rendering, etc)
  2. dev status (open, done, incomplete, etc)
  3. sorting criteria (hot/new/top)

Logically, they should work independently, without any interdependence.

For example, if the left two drop-down lists are selected as "modeling" and "Done", and then if I change the last drop-down option to "top", the website should show the top issues within "modeling" category, which are resolved (="done").

But this does not happen: If I change the right-most option, the first two drop-downs automatically change to "all tags" and "all dev. status".

Not relevant to this suggestion directly but the markdown cheatsheet link when making new post should open into new window when clicked and not redirect to the site.

To be fair, the menus work from right to left. You can get what you want by first choosing the sort order (in your example, "Top") then drilling down into the status type and tag.

It would be nice if the sort order didn't reset the other two choices. Until that gets done, then maybe the best interim solution would be to put the sort order all the way on the left to indicate hierarchy.

* @Jason van Gumster * oh no! It is not natural to have 'sort order" as the primary key!
