All the best VSE addons moved to master
Whether these should be active by default or just have to be turned on rather than downloaded, there are lots of good addons for VSE that have to be found to be used - a real shame as Blender is still the best open-source video editing program.My current favourites are:wiki.blender.org/index.php/Extensions:2.6/Py/Scripts/Sequencer/Jump_to_cut

The VSE Transform tools provide an interactive interface for the preview window, allowing the user to transform, translate and rotate the active strip after it gets a transform effect added. This is sort of what the Canvas aware Compositor proposal would look like. It makes the VSE behave just like a commercial NLE. I would vote for it's inclusion although making this core code would be better.
To make this proposal more clear, it would be best to describe what these specific add-ons do and why they should represent the default behavior in Blender. Just linking to other add-ons and saying you like them isn't really helpful.
