Name character limit - 63
Blender has a limit for object name is 63 characters, but this is not enough. I create a modular environment and sometimes need to specify many properties in the name. Please, increase the limit to 128 or 256 char.

Yeah, also faced that when tried to "pack" all the logical hierarchy to the PoseBone name (e.g. character -> long prefix with definition of what bone does -> quite long main name -> long suffix showing the hierarchy -> side suffix).
A very big yet low hanging fruit for the building industry! Blender has the potential to become a serious competitor in the building industry, especially given the growing dissatisfaction with bloated and sluggish software like Revit.
I think so. A large-scale hierarchy of props requires long names.
i didn't run into this issue myself, but i can imagine other people having problems with it. I like the idea of increasing it
The construction industry is getting closer to Blender with the Bonsai BIM addon, so more characters for names is essential.
+1 this is very much needed when dealing with automation
This limitation creates ongoing issues and problems for me. Knowing nothing about programming, it seems like it should be an easy fix. Why would this be the design?
Isn't it should be an easy fix?
Yes please!!! This limit BLOWS when you encounter it.
This limitation leads to a real problem if you work with CAD data that cames from your industry clients... It must be changed. 256 chars is a must.
