Mesh fitting

I'm looking for a better way to precisely and easyly fit meshes one each other. Currently using a technique consisting in shinkwraping one object into another and converting it as a shape key. This is a problem when both are the same object (hand in belly p. ex.), you have to divide it. Is there any plug-in doing that and with adaptative subdivision in the contact edges? Is there a way that you can adjust one mesh to another but without deformation, modifying bones position? some kind of magnet meshes but keeping shapes. You may think in physics and collision, but that's slow and not precise.

One hand grabbing a flexible ball o ballon deforms it depending on the pressures and tension of surfaces. Booleans just carve and in animation wouldn't make a realistic effect. it's needed that one mesh defforms de other.

This is doable in Matlab/octave with this toolbox I wrote

iso2mesh.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi

github.com/fangq/metch

You need to export the model to OFF and import to Matlab first thought.

I'm a little confused on what your goal is. It kinda sounds like you want to have meshes fit together like puzzle pieces. In that case I'd use a Boolean different.
