Standard Values not apropriate

Is it just me, or are there certain default settings, that are completely unusable ? like when using principled volume shader to do fog. U have to set it really low, what brings me to another problem. even when holding down shift to have more control it is not sensitive enough, so u have to type in the value. Same with color ramps. Sometimes you have to bring 2 sliders very close to get the desired results. so i zoom into the node until it fills the screen. I would really like to have one more level of sensitivity, or a setting in the preferences, where u can set the sensitivity on a scene basis. Also when resizing windows, the margin to select is like 1 pixel or so and the scrollbar is hard to hit as well. I dont get, why they do it this way.

The color ramp's default state gives a 1:1 output of its input, and that is DEFINITELY how it should be. I agree that it would be nice to have more precision without zooming in on the node, but that can partially be done by using the number inputs. As for the volume shader, it largely depends on use case. It is too dense for fog, but as long as the density value of "1" isn't arbitrary, then it's fine. Otherwise, yeah it could probably be scaled down a bit.
