Please stop the subdivision loading cycle of doom
Who doesn’t know the struggle—accidentally pressing subdivision, and suddenly Blender freezes, nothing moves anymore, and after five minutes, it crashes. Can we please get a smart solution for this? Maybe something like a warning or a subdivision progress bar that you can actively cancel or something?

From the Render Properties in the Simplify tab you can set the maximum number of subdivision, it's a great way to get around this issue
They have a counter for by always saving a backup when you do dumb stuff, but being able to cancel heavy operations like Houdini can would be way better
Same but geonodes changing a value too high, houdini solved this already and a loading bar opens, you can hit escape and it undoes your last action, i would like to just automatically reverse it ideally if it's clear it'll crash/freeze my file.
like give a warning with the option to override
People have been begging for this for years. I wonder if there's some insurmountable technical hurdle that prevents the team from implementing it?
Progress Bars and other solutions are currently being discussed in the developer forum, actually. Solutions are just never as simple if the system has to work across all blender and be in line with the best practices for good UX. We all know that having a half-assed solution usually means its sticking around long enough so that people depend on it and it can't be removed. :D
