Move the origin to the selected vertex / edge / face directly to the edit mode without changing the cursor position
A simple addon that adds the origin to select point to the hotkey Shift + Ctrl + Alt + c (move the origin to the selected vertex / edge / face directly to the edit mode without changing the cursor position). Why not do it in the official version 2.8, even without an addon, as a standard feature!? It is so convenient.

A good snap tool with a pivot manipulate mode will do the job...
I agree, It would be great to have this as a part of Blender. Current workflow is usable, but feels a bit janky.
It is really a must ! For precise modeling, it is important to have a reference point for each object (the origin) for precise positioning and orientation. Being able to define the origin of the object in one step is then a performance boost !
I use Blender add-on 3D Viewort Pie menu... Shortcut > Ctrl Alt x
