Label for dummys
I work at a company that makes shoes and we are currently migrating our rendering program from Keyshot to Blender.
One barrier we are facing when using materials in Blender is the label function present in Keyshot, which in Blender is very complicated to replicate.
Would it be possible to implement something similar to the example in the video below?
This would make it much easier for some team members who are not so familiar with materials and the logic of making materials in the blende

How are you trying to replicate the label function in blender? It should be as simple as: import images as plane --> shrinkwrap modifier. It can still be easier than that but maybe that can be fixed with scripting?
It's called decals, check DecalMachine, you still need too create those, its not that simple like in keyshot
This seems very different from the last proposal I read about adding "labels" to materials.
For what I see here, I think if/when Blender's materials become node groups by default and when we can properly have a texture input node feed into a group, it would be easier to propose something that gets close to what is shown in the video.
I think the already in progress Layer shader might be closer to what you've shown.
I think blender can't do this native but there are some addons for that. Maybe is too niche of a feature to be added natively. Perhaps the new asset shelf will bring forward some tools like that. youtu.be/ZXrspnaNixQ
