Houdini-like render zone prioritization shortcut and quicker render regions
Render Zone Prioritization -
Houdini has this great feature where you can left mouse-click on an a spot in the render while it's rendering, and it will influence the renderer to focus on that part first. It's a really great way to quickly see a rendered area without having to always redo render regions and restart renders. I believe it also queues up sequenced clicks. Meaning if you click in three different places, it will render one after the other.
This is super great if you're quickly adjusting the light on, let's say, and apple. you can very rapidly go back and forth until that's just right. It saves a lot of time.
Render Regions -
As for the render regions, in Houdini you simply shift-drag on the render window and it will immediately kick off a render of that zone with whatever render settings you have set. No need to have anything previously rendered at all as the render window auto-formats itself to the output settings. You reset this with a single shift-click (no drag).
cheers!
PS - Don't quote me on the shortcut - i have not used Houdini in while and Blender has replaced the keyboard shortcuts part of my brain :) Also - I apologize if Houdini already has these things hidden somewhere that I don't know of. But I have not been able to find anything like that.
