Sketchup is now a Subscription! Time for blender's knife tool to be activated? (Knife tool upgrade proposal)

Hello blender team. I would like to submit a proposal for the upgrade of the knife tool.

I believe there might be some plans about it already but would this be the right time to try and tease the possibility of it? Like multi purpose knife tool with precision tool features:

1.More basic snappings

2.Incremental angle snapping 1/5/15/30/45

3.Draw shape funtions (square, circle, and polygonal, and bezier)

4.Option to make knife a ruler at the same time; show measurements either along the knife cursor or place measurement info under the right corner similar to sketchup( Probably Easier for the neck for some users).

5.Combined with the regular and destructive extrude tool as an optional functionality. .

Sketchup is not turning into subscription. There might be poeple who are considering to try blender. What a way to encourage more users to give it a try by showing them the knife tool as a powerful alternative for sketchup. The basic precision side of things are currently being taken care of already by these new powerful addons like the (Transform Cad Tools, Set Precise Mesh, and Measureit).

This would be great for everyone especially in blender'architecture modeling side.

Also thank you for the release of 2.83 and the developments being done in blender 2.90+. Many great updates and improvements both on performance and features.

Big respect and appreciation to everyone in the Blender team for all the work being done in this software.

Have a nice day.

Yes, yes, yes! I loathe the current state of Blender's knife tool and support any and all proposals to improve its functionality.

* @sebbosebbo267 * I am aware of it already. But never really tried it until now. Quite interesting. There are some functionalities that can be very useful.

2.Incremental angle snapping 1/5/15/30/45

There is already screen space/view based angle snapping ( C while using the knife tool). It only supports 45 degree angles however as far as Im aware (Please correct me if Im wrong)

5.Combined with the regular and destructive extrude tool as an optional functionality.

Idk if this is kinda what you mean? It comes with Blender atm tho is disabled by default

* @Willy Wonka * I think that's exactly his point. More flexibility in angle choices would be very useful indeed.

I agree and I think that a modeling mode like in Sketchup would attract all Sketchup users because as many as I know, they would all switch to Blender but are hindered by the unintuitive modeling method and much more complicated precise modeling (with dimensions). I suggest making a Template with CAD modeling method for easier precision and simple tools like Sketchup! (Copy Sketchup). I know that such a messy model would prevent many modifiers from working but .... I'm sure they would get more support and more users. I believe that you, as long-time users, don't even notice how simple it could be.. and in fact it's the most complicated thing I know. For example: writing positive or negative axis direction is absurd. Greetings and I hope there is someone who would deal with the modeling problem in Blender. I help and suggest if anyone is willing to listen. Kristian
