It's really impossible not to think of a suggestion I made for a brush to sculpt mode with a very close function. But one would not eliminate the other. By the way, I liked the idea! And as has been said, using it along with dynamic Boolean operations would be perfect.

With so many boolean add-ons lately, I wouldn't be surprised to see this as an add-on instead of core functionality!
