Hot-key to display ALL Icon Titles at once
I request/propose a 'momentary-while-held hot-key' to show Title-Labels for ALL icons (including addons). Perhaps it's do-able as overlays. Maybe circles and arrows would be needed for some add-ons (i.e. BoxCutter)!
Discussion and Rationale:
1): Hovering over each icon sequentially is REALLY cumbersome.
2): Preference for tiny icons is either about:
2a): Distaste for language, ... ( yet if a picture has to be translated back into a word/phrase to have meaning, this adds a layer of removal - and slow down of mental and physical processing ); OR
2b): Maximizing screen-space with ‘elegant design’ - which is absurd for a software that REQUIRES expensive graphics boards that all have multiple monitor support. Many old timers did pro work 30 years ago with a monitor for panels, a monitor for 'scene' display, and a monitor connected to a video out board (at whatever resolution and frame rate).
3): Some icon proponents believe in the notion of training 'muscle-memory'. This is only relevant if you are a robot that never changes positional orientation to to your workstation ! (stated as a 2-decade-licensed needle acupuncturist)
A hotkey to momentarily show the icon word titles could be a reasonable compromise to the currently 'iconified' 2.8.

the suggestion maybe good, but please dont think that what u think is correct. The "ELEGANT" design is a must thing, what do u want otherwise, use a terminal, its totally ur choice. But, sometimes, u cant have another display like @meutzitzu said. And also, i willl first handly discard a text based UI for an "ICONIFIED" UI any number of times.
If you use some of the important Add0ns, you can easily top 700 tiny icons, MANY of which cannot even begin to be considered 'intuitive'. A 'momentary-while-held hot-key' would allow quick scan of TITLES. HardOps at least has pull-down lists ! (I hadn't seen that before)
ok, but what If I only ever use Blender on my laptop, that has a 1366x768 resolution ?
