AI Denoising in Viewport

Certain tasks are much faster if I leave all my viewports as solid/wireframe and instead constantly render with low samples and use the denoise compositing node.

I wish that could happen in the viewport directly.

Upvoting this but I think a better proposal would be an option to apply the compositing to viewport render after its complete. I envy this feature in C4D Octane, its amazing to get a live preview of any CC, glare/glow, denoising, etc.

Just give us an option to apply the composite to viewport render.

* @akshayxw69 * Why not both. My suggestion is meant to bypass having to setup the compositing nodes manually for this 1 effect.

* @akshayxw69 * This would be a really neat feature, but it would require a lot more work in the compositing system before it's even possible.

Blender's compositor is currently extremely slow, and there aren't really any devs working on it. If some devs start to overhaul it, then compositor previews would definitely be something they could do.

take a look at Bone Studios Branch. They do this already blender.community/c/graphicall/kdbbbc/

* @fink.marco * Looks like their branch is using a completely different technology. That makes at least 3 different denoisers in 3 different places in Blender :(

* @thinsoldier * which isnt perse a bad thing it. I rather have things that speedup valuable render time. Maybe development should be a bit focused on speedups as we not all have the latest hardware. Their branch is quite OK, maybe Blender should merge with their master ?.

This should be tagged as Done now, it's still marked as In Development at the moment

slowk1d

This should be marked as done.

Done, I believe, in the 2.83.

* @Kdaf * 2.90 - I've been using it on a non rtx video card... If I'm just focused on color and light it's nice but for finer details it's kind of annoying so I'm still doing test renders with the compositor's denoise node. The annoying thing is that it denoises after every additional sample is rendered. It would be better for the slower video cards like mine if it waited for all 64 of my viewport samples to render and then applied the denoising.

* @thinsoldier * You mean the Intel AI denoiser, like the compositing node ?
