child groups in the vertex groups panel

Would be handy if in the vertex groups menu, each group could have child groups. This would mean the parent group could be used to specify vertex groups to be used in modifiers, and the child groups could be used to store vertex selections and their weights. The parent's numerical slider could act as a multiplier for the child groups.

This would have the added benefit of being able to change vertex weights with each child groups numerical slider without having to select the edges in the 3d view and without having to re-assign the edges after tweaking the value, would give a clearer indication of which vertices have what weight (the colour gradient of the creased edges isnt very informative), would also mean we could completely get rid of crease weights, sharp weights, and bevel weights, because we could just have as many parents as we needed in the one vertex group box.

Possibly would be best for each vertex to only be able to exist in one child group per parent?
