bring back the blender game engon kind of

Rather than reintroducing the original Blender Game Engine (BGE) into Blender core, a better approach would be to create BGE-2, derived from UPBGE, with a clear and modern scope. BGE-2 would include Logic Nodes (based on UPBGE Logic Nodes), physics tightly coupled to Blender scenes, direct use of Blender’s animation system, and an export pipeline with a standalone player. This would allow Blender scenes to be games and movies, not just movies.

This is different from simply “bringing BGE back.” The original BGE should not be reinstated in its old form, but it also should not have been removed entirely. A better long-term approach would have been to keep BGE as a frozen internal system, allow the community to evolve it separately, and later reintroduce a clean successor once the architecture matured. UPBGE has already done much of this work, so building BGE-2 from UPBGE is evolutionary, not nostalgic.

BGE-2 would be a clear advantage for Blender’s goal of being a complete, end-to-end 3D creation system. Today, Blender can create geometry, animation, and simulations, but it cannot make games without external engines. This means Blender outputs are often pieces rather than final. A native execution layer with logic, physics, and animation would close this gap while avoiding problems from external engines.

Using UPBGE as the foundation reduces risk, proves sustained community interest, and demonstrates that a standalone player is feasible. BGE-2 could be optional, community-maintained, clearly scoped, and not positioned as a competitor to ue5 or Godot. Instead, it would upgrade Blender’s potential by allowing it to execute what it makes into a game and movie.

Hehe i say yes. But your best bet is to keep using upbge like me lol.. It's already community maintained so, yeah feature request done lol.

I think that it can make blender better at Uther things to and it would not tack as much efite

thorn

The blender game engine was a market failure, and a waste of effort the first time; round two will not go any better.
