Disable select through in Object mode.

In Object Mode select through is enabled by default. In Edit Mode, we use X-ray to select through. This design is inconsistent. How often does one switch between Object Mode and Edit Mode? If we have X-ray enabled in Edit Mode, do we need X-ray when we switch to Object Mode since it's always select through? If X-ray is disabled in Edit Mode and then we jump to Object Mode, well... you get the idea: workflow inconsistency. I have a feeling people are turning X-ray off and on more than they need to.

Select through should be disabled in solid view by default in Object Mode. Turning on X-ray in Object Mode should select through.

I think there should be an option of disabling select-through-mode

Please. We don't need to always select everything that crosses the selection window. Actually 90% of the time, I just want to select a few objects that are at the foreground.

I would love to have this, it's really basic functionality that should mirror edit mode. I find it hard to believe this is not prioritized. How can this have such few votes, and other gimmick selection idea proposals have massive amount of votes.

Does everyone work in edit mode in a single monolithic object? I'm confused how this isn't a major workflow annoyance for most people.

they don't give us an option for select through in edit mode which is mandatory for every professional artist, yet they shit on us. I doubt they gonna do that xD

Please disable select through in Object mode by default or at least let me do it somehow. This feature is making my work harder. Kind regards.

Would like to this issue fixed aswel.. I've never realized hard awful the blender experience was until I started having to use it for a project and now I just want to dump it and go back to an industry standard app like maya or 3ds.. how is blender this bad when the basics of providing an option disable object in the background from being selected. Worse selected objects in the front of the camera you're clicking on deselect, instead of getting deselected, remain selected while more objects in the background get selected.. based on camera angle of what is behind that raycast from point to screen.. I guess if this was professional software I'd fire the idiot behind this design.

I agree with that idea
