Can We Get An Installer?

Why doesn't Blender have an update button? I mean I know why. But why?

Is it hard to create an update button that you can click and then the program replaces itself in your files with a more updated version of itself? Optional, obviously. No popups. Just a tiny update button in Files Menu somewhere.

A little clicky update button. No forum searching. No trying to figure out where the download page is. Click and one cup of coffee later you have the most updated version of Blender that replaced your older version. Optional. As in it asks you, "Do you want to replace version #.## with #.##? Or would you like to keep your old version while also installing this newer version?"

This would require that Blender dial home and check blender.org by default. I'm personally not a fan of any default dial home behavior.

My update looks like: download zip, drag it on bat-file. That`s it. No prompts, no buttons, I decide, when I want to update and what. If I want to rewrite older version — the same operation, drag Zip to batfile.

For casuals there is Steam.

* @Bo Shi * I've had multiple problems using this Updater. YMMV.

For keeping current versions up to date, I use Chocolatey. I can update all my apps to current version in a single step (And Blender is on its list, although 2.80 is not yet released so its not there.)

I don't have this issue with Linux. :) Lots of ways to do this outside of blender. One would be to add a PPA and `apt update'. Blender will get periodic updates along with the system.
