3dCursor behavior defined by Toolbar settings, even when invoked by SHFT+RCLICK
Currently if you use SHFT+RCLICK to place the 3dCursor on a Face, it does NOT inherit the normal orientation of the Face, as it does when you use the 3dC Tool.
This is annoying.
I suggest that the 3DC-shft+Rclick methodology share the settings as the 3DC >tool<

I am not able to replicate the same behaviour. The 3D cursor seems to orient perpendicular to the viewing plane, so if you change your view angle and move the 3D cursor, the 3D cursor's rotation angle will change. If you don't change the view in the view port and only move the 3D cursor, the cursors rotational coordinates will not change. I am using Blender 2.82.7
* @Blen_Dave * , are you using the 3DC >tool< or the SHIFT+RCLICK shortcut? Since there are 2 ways to place the 3DC this may lead to confusion (which I'm trying to reduce):
The 3DC >tool< has an option for Orientation (to): None/View/Transform*/Geometry
Mine is set to GEOMETRY and orients the 3dc to the normal of the Face.
HOWEVER, and this is the point of my proposal, using the SHIFT+RCLICK method does not orient to the Face. What I would like (and this is similar to how in Sculpt mode the Smooth settings also apply to the CTRL=SMOOTH shortcut) is for the SHFT+RCLICK placement method to inherit the Orientation setting from the 3DC Tool, so that using either the 3DCursor tool OR the SHFT+RCLICK gives the same result.
More predictable.
* @jeric_synergy * I see what you are saying now. It was not clear in your initial post. Yes, the SHIFT+RCLICK method of moving the 3D Cursor is set to view port, whereas the 3D Cursor tool (the one in the Toolbar) has the four options (located in the Properties Toolbar, "Tool" tab under "Orientation".) Geometry gives you the normals or "face" option. In that case, I agree! It would speed up the work flow when modelling, and if the orientation's default is set to "Geometry", I feel that would be more intuitive.
