Add Custom keys to edit colours really fast

When we deal with colors, we always have to open the color popup.

We can use CTRL+C/ CTRL+V, so why not add some other options.

  • DRAG > HUE

  • CTRL+DRAG > VALUE (CTRL+Wheel already work in RGB)

  • ALT+DRAG > SATURATION

  • SHIFT+DRAG > slower the change

To the right to increase - To the left to decrease

It's a fast way to edit colors really fast.

I like the Idea, but it may break some of the basic mechanics in place :

  • Shift+drag for slower (precise) value drag.
  • Ctrl+clic force the edit value field. (Thus cancelling the drag)
  • Ctrl+mouseWheel is for number increment (not affected by your proposal)
  • Alt+drag for editing values of all object in the selection instead of just active object (I always wanted it inverted by the way...).

Maybe there is a way to achieve this without breaking this consistent behaviors. (I haven't tested if these are the same in 2.8)

@bernou.samuel:

I edited my proposal. Alt+drag cannot be used on several objects if they don't have a shader.

@bernou.samuel: Oh my god...are you kidding me with this alt+drag thing?!? I've been using blender for 4 or 5 years and didn't know this. Oh the hours I could have saved...

Edit: Even now, I'm searching for information on this behavior online and not finding anything about it. This should be more obvious to the user. I am truly shocked. Even when I'm looking for this feature in docs and google, I find nothing!

@dpdpforlife: Ok. Now that I've caught my breath, I will say that I don't think it will break all of the existing mechanics. Right now CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT do nothing in color selectors other than the default drag behavior of copying the color. So simply dragging to change hue will have to change to something with a drag in combination with a key press.

I have to say this is a really great idea.

@dpdpforlife: Yeah it's like a key feature to me, and it's kinda hidden. It was added in 2.76 if I remind correctly and for me it was THE improvement of this version ^^. Sadly it doesn't work for all the properties. And as I mentionned, I think that it should be inverted : Affecting all selection by default and pushing alt for active objet only. It's what the user expect. Maybe I should propose this...

Great idea.

I'm in for this! sounds really cool.

Sounds awesome to me!
Wouldn't that be already possible to do via python addon?
