Apply Modifier
An modifier to be selected in the modifiers menu. It "virtually" applies all modifiers before itself in the stack. This could be usefull to maintain non-destructive modelling.

Let's call it an edit poly modifier which it would be, I hate the fact that handling vertices in 3ds max REQUIRES such a modifer, but to be honest it would be a wonderfull improvement to hardsurface workflows, i clearly thing blender could benefit an "edit mode" modifier
So you mean a mesh edit modifier, where you could go into edit mode and change the geometry somewhere down the line of the modifier stack? Explain it a bit better, please.
* @weasel * I have e.g.an cube . In edit mode I delete half of it and apply an mirror modifier. Then I model some more things on that mesh. But now I want to move this entire object in edit mode and mirror this object again, but without applying the 1st mirror modifier and to be able to go back again.
Or you have an cylinder with 8 sides, but want to add and subd mod to work with the higher resolution mesh, but want to retain the original cylinder.
* @Pierre * I'm not sure how it works in blender but in max or maya lot of modifiers uses vertex numbers for calculating modifiers behaviour, so any changes in the beginning of stack causes errors at the end of stack...
