Add a message about new blender build available.
Some people don't know if they use the last blender version, so, having a message could be helpful. That could be a button to go on the Blenber website or just a text for information.

What's the point though? There is a new build each day - and you can already see from which day a build is.
* @alf * read my post :/
Ehh, Blender doesn't connect to the internet at all as far as I know. It may be a privacy concern for some.
There are addons with update checking. It's always optionnal.
And have to option to make it check either stable realeases OR daily builds as you wish.
well blender doesn't connect to the net for many reasons u don't need activation, blender doesn't collect users data...etc, and some of the addons that are shipped who can connect to the web are off by default and have to notify the users in that case...otherwise everyone will start accusing BF of doing the same as commercial softwares and suffer a backlash since there is no end users license agreement ...someone can make it an addon though but takes full responsibility when things go wrong.
You can use this to auto-update your Blender version: github.com/overmindstudios/BlenderUpdater
I'd love this. I'm always checking the website and it would be nice to have an alert.
The Blender build # number should always show next to the Blender title in the window's title bar. This is very helpful when watching videos to see what version the poster was using. As well every tutorial should have it's key casts on. Oh and stop with the PIP, its annoying and covers up the UI.
* @othoap * PIP?
* @Cédric Lepiller * Picture in Picture (PIP) IMO a super imposed webcam view of the presenter is so distracting.
* @othoap * You should say that to Andrew Price :D
