Feature Request: BPY Normal Matrix
EDIT MODE does some really nice normal orientation averaging. When you make a transform using orientation-mode: "NORMAL", instead of constraining the axis to the normal, it calculates the normal producing a hidden 'orient_matrix'. It would be extremely helpful to have the ability to call a method to get the calculated object normal-orientation matrix. It would immensely help with camera and other object orientations.
Ideally being able to call C.object.matrix_normal and getting the averaged normal vector/matrix computed when you open the object in edit mode, select all vertices and faces and click transformation_orientation: Normal.

we have a "Blender Python API Papercuts" thread going on over at devtalk, you should add this to the list because I agree, it would be useful.
