Add a way to show all modifiers in 1 viewport and no modifiers in another viewport
Sometimes it's cumbersome to edit the base mesh with the modifiers showing.
Sometimes it's hard to guess what effect your edits will have if you turned the modifiers off.
Switching back and forth between object and edit mode to see the mesh with and without modifiers is a lot more struggle than just having multiple viewports each configured to show exactly what you need to make sense of what you're trying to do.

Or like allowing viewports to have completely different setups. Question is how to go about this, there can't be a separate eye-icon in outliner or modifier stack for each open 3d view.
Simplifying seems good approach. Maybe a list of filters inside each 3d view, where you have two items per filter.
One item is a particular object or a type of object (mesh, curve, armature, etc.) and the other is item is what to not display:
For example dont display at all, dont display certain modifier(s), display as wire, etc. Some things should go from the "Viewport Display"-Panel inside here.
Because right now we are telling an object how to display in any viewport. It would be better to tell each 3D view separately, how to display certain objects instead.
Something like a Simplify inside the viewport?
