Change X-Ray patterns from small dots to Simple xray with slight transparency. (Blender 2.81 Optional Feature)

Hello guys. I would like to propose a feature that will make the X-Ray patterns appear smooth instead of the current one which is filled with small dot patterns.

It would be great to have the option to change how the way the xray looks. There are multiple times where you would prefer some much cleaner visuals when in edit mode and trying to follow some blueprints or reference using the image as planes/background.

This is how it looks like in 3ds Max: (Plain Transparent)

This is how it currently looks at blender 2.81a (Small dots pattern)

If I am not mistaken this is how blender 2.80 originally looks like. I hope we can also have this one in the new blender 2.81 versions.
