Allow adding modifiers to a group

Currently I can add only to single object the modifiers. I think It would be time to allow editing multiple objects like that. It would speed up our workflow very much. I know about linking modifiers, but it is slow workflow, since you need to link the modifiers every time again after you do some edits.

If this causes some problems, then from group settings you should be able to disable this behavior.

The problem is that modifiers never really got to the status of being true datablocks that could be properly linked. The current "linking" behavior is actually just a copy of the modifier. I asked about this a while back (suggesting that the modifier entry in the linking menu be moved to a more appropriate menu). The response at the time was there was always an intent to actually made modifiers truly linkable... it's just that no one actually finished development of that feature. If that feature were finished, then I don't think this request would be as necessary.

Dang. That makes me very sad. I hope one day. :(

Another way to fix this would be to have a completely new "group" modifier. This modifier would have none features except it would do that link job all the modifiers before it to a selected group. So it would just copy the modifiers to the objects every time you update it.
