Outline_Shader or Modifier like the models have in the viewport, but in render
i would really like if if there was an outline shader or modifier like the viewport has but its renderable
i know something similar can be done with inverted normals with solidify mode and with layer weight node
but solidify inverted normals creates gaps in between the model and the outline at the folds and layer weights gives very thick outline in the middle of the model which are are kind of hard to mask out for procedural workflow
but the viewport outline has no such problems
i could use the viewport outline with layer weight with better results if it was renderable

LANPR is in development (it can do this in realtime), and Freestyle should suit your needs until it's in master. I do wish there were shader nodes that could do this and other screen-space effects. If there was a node that did edge-detection on the screen-space image (or framebuffer I suppose) I could do so, so much with it.
* @Josephbburg * thank you so much I have been trying to remove that annoying gapping effect in evee for a long time to, you see I love evee would rather render in that than cycles. I know I can use cycles and I am actually going to use cycled for this but I thought why not ask for this feature in ever cos I saw the viewport do this so easy in real time'i guess I am kind of jelly of the viewport 😝'
* @beenjohn * I actually saw recently that Freestyle has also been given its own render pass, so it should be even easier to use in 2.83.
