Change behavior of Mirror Function

I really hate the so-called 'Mirror' function. Because in real life, a mirror doesn't DESTROY the originals. It >>reflects<< them.

IMO the Mirror function should perform an implicit COPY or Duplicate action before reflecting the selected items. AND NO, I don't want to have to do that myself, that's the point of software tools, to work FOR you.

I don't agree that changing a fundamental function like performing a reflection transform should create new geometry by default. It should be easy enough for you to locate tutorials on scripting to teach yourself how to create this function for yourself.

Perhaps start here ( Blender | Scripting )

* @ammusionist * , yeeeeahahhhhh not interested in programming.

If it were CALLED/LABELED "reflection transform" it'd be fine. But it is NOT. It is called "Mirror". No mirror destroys the original. So it should be relabeled to correspond to its ACTUAL function.

* @jeric_synergy * Well if you are being ACTUAL about it, a mirror does not creates a duplicate, but a virtual image of what it reflects, so it's neither what Blender does, nor what you're asking for. (Although Blender's Mirror Modifier is pretty close)
