Background image follows 3D pivot setting
Hi, there are some similar posts out there, but i think they lack a bit the clear view on what is needed. Now, as blender got rid of the BU and has meters as default grid, it would be conveniant to have a checkbox next to or under the x- and y-translate-slider that enables "finetune mode" and divides the result of leftclick-drag or shift-leftclick-drag by say 100.
But even more important would be to rewrite the code for the background drawer, in order to scale the image according to what is set as pivot point in 3D view. Bounding box would act as it does now, and active element would set the pivot to the active object, e.g. an empty. This could provide us with an animateable bg-image... Just a thought. Maybe something useful for a Grease Pencil earthquake ;)
But the surely most useful pivot for scaling and rotating would be the 3d cursor. For those who don't know: a few tabs above the BG settings there is a tab for the cursor, where you can fine-translate it with shift-leftclick-drag on the axes.
I could imagine all this is no big deal if you speak Klingon fluidly ;) I don't.

With this kind of addition, the background image would be functionally equivalent to the Image Empty. So why not just use those?
