All lists that feature an "eyeball" type switch should support 'soloing' (already done?)
"Soloing" is when you, for example, turn off all the layers in a Photoshop composition but one, the solo layer. In Pshop this is accomplished by alt-clicking on the eyeball, the visibility icon.
I was just trying to isolate a problematic Grease Pencil material, and it would have been very advantageous to be able to solo materials. So, as a general UI principle, it seems like anywhere there's a list with visibility toggles ("eyeballs"), it would be useful to include the ability to solo elements of that list.
It'd be great if this were already the case.

Yes, this would be helpful in Object Type Visibility viewport dropdown and in the Graph Editor to isolate curves. Best to have it everywhere.
this already exists. ctrl+click on the eyeball.
* @testure * Are you sure? I tried in the outliner and it doesn't work with me
* @slowk1d * not sure what version it was added in, but in 2.92 it works.
* @testure * weird, I just downloaded 2.92 and for me doesn't work. Also, generally I'm pretty updated on new outliner features, and in the release notes of 2.91 and 2.92 is not listed... could you show me a video or a keymap image?
* @slowk1d * there's no keymap for it as far as I can tell, it's not a hotkey- it's something built into the outliner itself. image
* @testure * Now I see, can replicate it. Unfortunately it's only for collections, not for single objects
To me it sounds like "3D View → Local View" is exactly what you described.
* @unknow0060 * What you mean is focusing the view on one object. What he means is that when you ctrl+click on a visibility icon in the outliner, you hide everything but the object you clicked on. Basically what is possible to do in the 3D view with shift+H
* @slowk1d * Yes. Those things are equal to me. It seems that OP just wants the Local View feature to be accessible with a Control Click in the Eye in the Outliner.
Agree. Alt-click on the eye is the standard convention, but it's just so damn helpful I'm surprised it's not implemented already. Currently the only option is to select the thing you want, hit CTRL + I to invert, then hit "H", to hide, but that doesn't work on everything
* @Zach Hixson * Actually you can just press Shift+H to solo what you want, unfortunately doesn't work in the outliner.
* @slowk1d * , it's another bit of "lack of consistency" in the UI. In the towering brick wall of "lack of consistency" in Blender.
And SHIFT H may work (only) in the 3d window, but it's 'discoverability' is low. Whereas the eyeball icon is a CONSPICUOUS place where users, esp. ones from PShop, might expect to find visibility options.
That's why the proposal SPECIFIES "lists with eyeballs".
