Text Alignment (VSE)

image

Align currently only changes the origin of the text and not the actual text alignment.

developer.blender.org/T71082

It would be nice to have Align X actually align the text, and be able to make make a multi-line centered or right-aligned title.

Another option is to add actual alignment and keep the options for changing the origin of the text. Here is a icon proposal for text origins: new-icons-for-blender-2-8x

In any case, renaming Align X to Origin X will help make the current behavior more clear.

Some ๐Ÿงก for VSE?

Oh, I also forgot to say, that I was working on a plugin, that could solve the alignment issue. That worked, but it wasn't user friendly. So I have to work harder on this issue :D

I like the word "Origin" because it is more consistent with the rest of Blender :) Yesterday I took a look in the code (my first time) and it is not really nice, but I feel like a child in the Kindergarten =) More <3 for VSE! :)

Btw: Maybe we should show, how the Alignment actually works. And how it is disrupting nearly everybody, who want's to use it?

* @ronsn * Thanks! I've added a gif showing the issue.

* @ronsn * I know how you feel =)

I did some digging and submitted a simple diff for the labels and defaults on developer.blender.org/D6178

I think it would make sense for the sequencer to use font.c's functions to render text. But I'm not that c-smart yet.

* @Paul Coops * I'm not that smart in C either, but since I'm a software developer in general, I wanted to go a little deeper into this C/C++ topic. But my time is unfortunately also so limited^^
