Proportional Editing: Activate during transform
Right now proportional editing needs to be activated by clicking the icon or pressing the shortcut "o" BEFORE making a transformation (moving/rotating/...).
It would be handy to be able to activate proportional activating DURING a transormation.

Technically this must be possible, as user can adjust the proportional area down to zero while dragging, and this is the same as disabling proportional editing.
How would it benefit us to activate it during the transform?
I think it would benefit from a workflow standpoint. If we could activate after starting the transformation, then it wouldn't matter whether it is active before or after transforms started.. as it is right now, if you forget to turn proportional editing on before transforming, you'll have to end up right-clicking to cancel the transform operation, then enable proportional editing, then restart the transform process.. It would be easier given beiderhake's proposal IMO.
It benefits a lot. Else you have to exit the transform, then turn on the proportional editing and then you have to start the transform again.
